At this point, it’s difficult to take anything that Tesla CEO Elon Musk says at face value, but assuming we could it looks like the company has its next car ready to go.
That’s because Tesla teased the unannounced car at its annual shareholder meeting with a shadowy image shown on-screen.
Musk said that the meeting wasn’t the place that he wanted to announce the car, but that didn’t stop him from talking about it.
Alongside the tease, Musk said that Tesla is now working on not one but two new electric vehicles that have yet to be announced. On top of that, the one teased on-screen is reportedly already designed and being built.
However, as Electrek notes, it isn’t immediately clear what Musk meant by that. The car could just be in the prototype stage and that’s what the company is currently building. But this being Musk it’s impossible to know exactly what he was trying to say which is probably the way he wanted it to be.
As for the two vehicles that Musk mentioned, it’s thought that one is a cheaper and smaller hatchback while the other is what Musk refers to as a robotaxi, or a self-driving taxi of some sort. But again, considering Full Self-Driving isn’t ready yet, who knows when that will actually ship.
