The wait is over. Tesla has started rolling out official Apple Watch app for Tesla vehicles. Tesla initially unveiled the Apple Watch app as part of this year’s holiday update.
Compatible with Model S, Model X, Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck, the app is now available to download from iOS and watchOS App Store as part of Tesla iPhone app version 4.39.5. On the Apple Watch, the app requires watchOS 11 or later to work.
The official Tesla app on Apple Watch can also turn the watch into car key, which means you no longer have to rely on your iPhone, the key card, or key fob to use your car. It also has the ability to open open frunk or trunk, use climate control, lock/unlock car, and more. Moreover, the watchOS app also features complication support which lets you add battery percentage to the watch face.
Keep in mind that even though the Apple Watch app is available to download right now and it mostly works, it does require new holiday update on the car in order to issue commands to the vehicle.
Apart from this new watch app, the new iPhone app version of Tesla app enables users to view and share video footage captured through the mobile app, as well as schedule light shows directly from the iPhone app.
