According to a new report, Tesla is preparing to launch 2024 refresh of its most popular vehicle – the Model Y – sometime in the next few months.
In case you don’t know, Tesla recently launched Model 3 ‘Highland’ Refresh in Asia and Europe with North American launch set for early 2024, but if this new report is anything to go by, it seems like we will soon get Model Y Refresh as well which will bring it in line with changes recently made to Model 3.
Model Y is not only Tesla’s most popular vehicle, but it’s also the most popular vehicle in the world, recently surpassing the sales figures of Toyota Corolla. Given the importance of this model to Tesla, it will be interesting to see how the company handles the launch of its Refresh model.
According to the aforementioned report by Bloomberg:
The US electric carmaker is currently conducting preparation work in China for its refreshed Model Y sport utility vehicle and mass production may start as soon as mid-2024, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information isn’t public.
The first batch of the newest Model Ys will be made from the second phase of Tesla’s Shanghai facility, which will suspend production for around a week during the New Year holiday for a partial upgrade, one of the people said. More adjustments will have to be made prior to mass production, they added.
Based on this report, we expect Tesla to launch Model Y Refresh some time in Q2 2024.
Tesla is currently busy with recently launched Cybertruck in the United States. There’s no word yet on when will Tesla bring Cybetruck to other countries around the world.
