After announcing the Highland Model S refresh last year it is now finally available to buy in the United States after only being available in Europe, the Pacific, and Asia previously.
Tesla never confirmed when it would be bringing that update to the United States so many had wondered when that might happen.
Tesla calls the new Highland variant of the Model 3 its “upgraded Model 3” and it’s now taking orders with deliveries set to take place in January or February, depending on the configuration chosen. However, just like in Europe, only the rear-wheel-drive and dual motor versions are being offered currently. There’s no Performance model, although that could change in the future.
Enjoy an all-new interior that features a sleek, minimalist styling with a premium look and feel. The cabin is quieter than ever thanks to wrap-around acoustic glass, and includes new features like ambient lighting and ventilated seats.
As for pricing, the situation remains the same for the RWD as it was with the older Model 3 but Electrek notes that there is one interesting change — the top speed of the new model is 15mph slower than the previous iteration. The new model is at least more efficient according to the WLTP calculations in Europe, but that hasn’t been reflected in the United States.
You can place an order for your upgraded Model 3 starting today.
