Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, says that the company should be ready to make its Full Self-Driving Beta available to the public on or around September 25. This after months of delays relating to the software and issues elsewhere within the company.
As Electrek reports, Tesla is now coming up to a full year since it made its Full Self-Driving Beta available to a limited number of people.
The software enables Tesla vehicles to virtually drive themselves both on highways and city streets, but it is still considered a level 2 driver assist since it requires driver supervision at all times. The driver remains responsible for the vehicle, needs to keep their hands on the steering wheel, and be ready to take control.
Musk had earlier tweeted that Beta 10 should be ready in around four weeks, but now now in a series of tweets, he goes on to specify September 25 as the target launch date.
When that release happens it’s thought that Tesla owners will see a new button that allows them to initiate the beta download. It isn’t immediately obvious how many people will look to download the beta, but Tesla fans are among the most keen on the planet.
Looks promising that Beta 10.1, about 2 weeks later, will be good enough for public opt in request button

The FSD beta is also something that has long been wished for, suggesting we might see a large uptake some September 25.
