Tesla has shown off a new and as-yet-unseen accessory for the upcoming Cybertruck electric truck — a new tool rack.
There was talk of additional accessories for the truck when Tesla announced the Cybertruck way back in 2019, but that was of course a long time ago and we haven’t heard all that much since.
Now, at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Tesla Lithium Refinery in Texas, the company showed a Cybertruck with a new tool rack installed.
It isn’t immediately clear how the whole thing will work or how easily it can be removed from the truck itself, but it appears to give drivers a way to roof-mount things like ladders in a way that wouldn’t normally have been possible due to the way the Cybertruck is laid out.
We also don’t know how much this will cost of course, nor whether there are more accessories in the offing.
As for the Cybertruck itself, that’s expected to enter production this summer and then the first deliveries should take place around the end of the third quarter of the year.
But those hoping for mass production will have to wait until next year, suggesting that’s when most people can expect to start to see their trucks being built. At this point it’s four years since the Cybertruck was announced and if you’re still waiting for yours today, what’s a few more months?
