When Tesla announced the Cybertruck it made a big deal about how it was able to take on Ford’s competing truck, the F-150.
There was a tug-of-war between the two trucks that Elon Musk shared on Twitter, but now that the Cybertruck is finally something that (some) people can buy, some members of the press have been able to put it through its paces at the company’s Texas Gigafactory. And the obvious point of call was a drag race against a Ford F-150.
In this case, the truck used was a Ford F-150 Raptor, the most powerful of all the Ford trucks. It was pitted against the tri-motor Cyberbeast version of the Cybertruck, so these were two circa $100,000 trucks going head-to-head. The whole thing was filmed by CarWow and published to X, and the result speaks for itself.
That result sees the Cyberbeast come out on top, and by some margin. The truck recorded a quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds, which is pretty quick, and this news will no doubt help to make Tesla feel a little better about the dubious off-roading capabilities of the Cybertruck. A recent video showed a Cybertruck being rescued from a snowy incline by, amazingly, a Ford truck.
Still, it’s clear that if you want to race around in your truck as quickly as possible, little is going to compete with the Cybertruck right now.
