Tesla Cybertruck Owners Can Now Wrap The Truck With Solar Panels

If you’re the owner of a Tesla Cybertruck and find that it just can’t quite travel far enough on a single charge or you don’t have a charger at work, the answer might come in the form of the sun. And a $10,000 wrap.

The wrap is more than just something that makes your Cybertruck look cooler than that bare metal look and is actually a way to cover your entire EV in solar panels. Solar panels which can then be used to recharge your truck’s batteries when you need to.

The new wrap comes courtesy of a third-party company rather than Tesla itself, Electrek reports. Created by California’s Sunflare Solar, the new wrap is said to offer enough solar panel goodness to collect up to 1.5kW of solar power.

The whole thing costs $10,000 to install and could potentially add around 15 miles of range if you live in the right part of the world — not one that’s covered in clouds, obviously enough.

The installation comes with the wrap itself as well as a 5kW battery inverter that handles taking the power from the solar panels themselves and handing it offer to the Cybertruck’s internal batteries.

While the additional power is of course the real aim here, there’s no doubt that the solar panels add a unique look that some will either love or hate. We’re quite fond of it, really.
