If you buy a new Tesla Model S in the United States you’ll receive free Supercharging for life, it’s been confirmed. The move matches a previous offer that has not been running for some time now.
This only applies to new Model S vehicles that are bought or leased after December 13 this year.
The feature is then tied to the user’s account which means that it cannot be transferred when the car is sold. However, Tesla does note that it can remove the free Supercharging feature if users are found to be excessively using the services, but it hasn’t been confirmed how much charging the company considers to be excessive.
The free Supercharging is also not available on business orders or when vehicles are used for commercial purposes.
Order must be placed on or after December 13, 2024. Offer is tied to your Tesla Account and cannot be transferred to another vehicle, person or order, even in the case of ownership transfer. Used vehicles, business orders and vehicles used for commercial purposes (like taxi, rideshare and delivery services) are excluded from this promotion.
Tesla previously offered the same lifetime Supercharging feature when the Model S launched 12 years ago but it was subsequently phased out in early 2017.
