Many different casual gaming formats have thrived amid the rise of the App Store and Google Play, and among the multitude of physics-based puzzlers and platform titles, the endless runner has been rather dominant. The Temple Run series has been one of the most successful to date, and thanks to Apple, one of the more popular installments is free for a very limited time. More details, as well as that all-important download link, can be seen after the break.
The awesome thing about endless runners is that they are, of course, endless, which means that they can remain very addictive even after a long time of playing. As enjoyable as it can be, though, the continuous nature of titles like Temple Run is that they can become addictive, and with no time limit on events, the fun can quickly spill over into tedium.
If you’re a fan of the original Temple Run, the Oz version doesn’t deviate from the core principles. Your objective is still to turn, duck and jump through a constant terrain, although to mix things up, the setting and characters are quite different to the Indiana Jones-esque protagonist of the first edition.
Apple’s App Of The Week promotion is a great way to pick up free titles that are actually worth grabbing, although if you start playing Temple Run: Oz to fill up a spare five minutes, the chances are you’ll end up engaging in it for much, much longer. That is, if you have the skills!
With a usual cost of $1.99, you can save yourself a couple of bucks by downloading it now, and for your convenience, we’ve provided a direct link to the App Store below. It’s completely universal as well, so you only need to download it once to play it on all of your iOS devices.
Pick it up, give it a whirl, and be sure to let us know how you get on by dropping a comment via the usual channels. Or more specifically, the comments section below.
