Apple’s entry into the world of AR and VR with the release of the Apple Vision Pro has caused a big stir as you might expect, and while the market for the $3,499 headset might be relatively small when compared to the iPhone, that could well change in the future.
Now, a new Piper Sandler survey shows that teenagers are increasingly using VR headsets, at least across the United States.
The report, seen by 9to5Mac, says that the weekly use of VR devices has increased from 10% to 13% compared to the fall of 2023 — the survey takes place twice per year. The same survey also notes that a third of all teenagers in the United States say that they now own a VR device, up from 31%.
While few of those teenagers likely have an Apple Vision Pro, this is clearly a sign — albeit a small one — that teenagers are increasingly comfortable with wearing a headset.
The Apple Vision Pro is currently the go-to device for a lot of people when they consider the future of mixed reality headsets. But the price is prohibitive and while a cheaper version is reportedly in the works, we don’t yet know when we should expect it to arrive. The current model is also only available in the United States today, although a global launch is expected before the end of the year.
