The next big game in the Call of Duty franchise - Call of Duty: Ghosts - has leaked, over six months before it is due to go on sale.
With Sony having gotten in ahead of Microsoft in announcing its next-gen PlayStation 4 console all the way back in February, it was only going to be a matter of time before the Redmond company responded with a significant announcement of its own. Today, the software maker has sent out media invitations to an event on May 21st, 2013 at the Redmond HQ, and as you'll see from an image of the invitation posted below, there's little doubt as to what the main topic of conversation will be.
If you've been keeping abreast of the brewing console battle between Sony and Microsoft, then it's likely that you are on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what the Redmond company will introduce with their next-generation Xbox. Sony has already let the cat out of the bag with the introduction of the PlayStation 4 back in February, and it looks like the Xbox unveiling isn't too far away with the originally planned April event being pushed back a few weeks to take place next month.

As gamers continue to wait anxiously for the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 after it was delayed from Spring until September, Rockstar Games has sought to keep fans interested by releasing an image of the box art set to grace the cover of the title when it does finally release. Although the game itself should be head and shoulders above previous iterations in terms of visuals and aesthetics, the cover is every bit similar to the ones we're used to seeing from the old PlayStation 2 days. As well as giving us a glimpse of the cover, the publisher / developer also released another batch of GTA V screenshots earlier as a reminder of just how pretty the title is going to be.
Battlefield 4 was first announced nine months ago, but since then, we've heard relatively little of a title expected to be one of the biggest game releases of the year. A couple of days back, excitement was reignited by the release of the 17-minute gameplay trailer, which gave an insight into the upcoming title, and now, we've got a firm release date straight from the horse's mouth. Microsoft has announced that the game will be available on October 29th, and considering the previous ballpark timeframe was given as "Fall", this is perhaps slightly earlier than many would have anticipated.
Last Summer, Electronic Arts announced Battlefield 4, and with the special event for the title having just been held, the company has released an incredible 17 minutes of in-game footage. It features plenty of combat, a preview of some of the weaponry, and stunning visuals offering a timely reminder of why gaming fans are looking forward to the next installment of the legendary first-person shooter franchise. The title is set to release this fall for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and running on the Frostbite 3 engine, will evidently deliver a cutting-edge gaming experience. More details and video after the jump.
Back in early February, it was speculated that Microsoft's next-gen console, dubbed the "Xbox 720," would incorporate a system preventing the use of second-hand games. It's no secret that game developers see the practice of trading used titles as detrimental to revenue, and it has long since been presumed that measures would be in place to combat this. Further to that earlier report, yet another leak has surfaced in the form of screenshots of the XDK via VGLeaks, which only but corroborate the claims of an anti-used title infrastructure.
Some people just like taking things apart, but that's just half of the process. Once you're left with a big bag of bits, you need to put it all back together again and hope that it works when you press that big power button. Putting it all back together and making it better than the original takes things to a whole new level, and that's what Ben Heck has become so well known for.
The words of analysts are, more often than not, to be taken with a pinch of salt; especially in a technology industry where most supposition is based on little more than educated guesswork. Gamers will be hoping Michael Pachter has gotten his numbers muddled up somewhere, after the game financial analyst, of Wedbush Securities, suggested that games for the PlayStation 4 and unannounced next-gen Xbox console could tip the scales at a hefty $70. Speaking to a panel in Austin, Texas, he also foresees Microsoft coming out on top in the battle of the next-gen consoles, as it has done with the Xbox 360.
