Microsoft owns the Xbox console lineup, right? And the company also owns the most widely-used desktop computing platform, Windows, as well. It would naturally make sense for the Redmond giant to have a dedicated app for promoting its Xbox console by simple math. Hence, the company has done just that, by releasing a news and countdown app for Xbox One for Windows 8.
The PlayStation 4 is a coveted console, we get it - it is the top of the line gaming hardware from Sony at the moment, after all - but paying $1,850 for it? It's just absurd, don't you think? I mean, who'd dish out that much dough for just a gaming console? Well, unfortunately for the gaming enthusiasts living in Brazil, this is what they have to come up with if they want to get their hands on the latest gaming gear from Sony Entertainment, where the PS4 will retail for a whopping R$ 3,999, according to the Brazil PlayStation Blog.
Microsoft's Xbox LIVE is not only a great way for users to connect and enjoy multiplayer battles, but the Achievements system helps gamers to derive a sense of accomplishment from playing some of their favorite titles. Very gradually, the Redmond company has sought to spread Achievements out and beyond the confines of Xbox LIVE, and following on from Kinectimals, which brought Achievements to both iOS and Android, Wordament for Google's mobile OS will allow players to clock up 50G to their Gamerscore.
The console wars aren't fought, and certainly aren't won on paper, but the developers of the PlayStation 4 claim that the forthcoming games and entertainment machine is 50% more powerful than its adversary, Microsoft's Xbox One. This mightn't have any bearing on the decisions of the masses, particularly given that the Redmond's console arrives with the incredibly popular Kinect peripheral right out of the box, but given how the PS4 is also one hundred bucks cheaper than the Xbox One, purists may feel enticed by the package offered by Sony.
Xbox One is one device that isn’t just for gaming, and the company is out to prove that in full force. The newest gaming console from the Redmond company has been touted several times as a multi-purpose home entertainment system - something that you would frequently use for more than just gaming - and the company’s latest ad for Xbox One takes that fact even further. This time, Microsoft is targeting National Football League (NFL) fans directly, showing off Microsoft’s Fantasy Football system for the Xbox One and more.
Although the Xbox One has been revealed and, more recently, finally been given a release date, we're still learning new and exciting things about Microsoft's console every day. The official Microsoft support channels on the various social networks have been inundated with questions from eager gaming fans, and, slowly but surely, the Redmond company is getting around to divulging some of this important information. In the latest, it looks as though the Xbox One will be able to connect up to eight controllers at any one time, meaning those looking to enjoy extended family / friend multiplayer match-ups probably won't need to keep rotating. By the same token, the PlayStation 4 will only support a maximum of four, but given the limited support for more than four competitors, as well as the practical issues, this shouldn't be a deal-breaker.
We knew roughly when it would arrive, but until a few minutes ago we didn't know for sure. Now all the guessing is over with though, and we know exactly when we will be able to get our hands on the new Xbox One: November 22nd.
A move which we have been expecting for quite some time: Microsoft has finally made the decision to rid Xbox 360 customers of Microsoft Points in favor of real-world local currency. A Xbox update that is starting to filter its way around the world puts an end to the Points system and converts any Microsoft Points on an account into the local currency of the user.
The battle for supremacy in the next-gen console wars is really heating up, to the point now where every day, either Microsoft or Sony has something to reveal regarding their respective consoles. With the latter having disclosed the PS4 release date for the whole world to drool over, today is Microsoft's turn, and the Redmond company now has the Xbox One on display for all to see at it own retail outlets. Unfortunately, they're securely housed within the confinements of glass boxes, but with many consumers still on the fence with regards to which console they will eventually choose, a close-up look at the new design could tempt some into going ahead and pre-ordering.
Gaming fans looking to pick up Microsoft's Xbox One on launch day this November will be able to choose from a rather vast array of games when they get the shrink wrap off their new piece of kit after Microsoft made available a list of games that will be available at launch.
