Folks over at XDA-Developers have managed to hack the popular HTC Sense interface, which ships with HTC HD2, to make it compatible to run in landscape mode. One complain that you would have often heard from users running HTC Sense on Windows phones is the lack of support in landscape mode. With this hack, you can now run the popular interface in landscape mode. Its not perfect yet, and has some alignment issues, but it is still very much usable. One can expect more improvements in future releases.
A camera defect was earlier reported by the early adopters of HTC HD2 in which a pink hue spot was noticed in the centre of all the pictures taken from the 5 MP autofocus camera on HTC HD2. HTC earlier had confirmed it as a hardware issue and asked the effected owners to contact their reseller to exchange the defected handset with a new one. The pinkish hue spot in question can be seen clearly in the screenshot attached below.
HTC HD2 is probably the most awaited Windows phone of this fall! The two major features which gives it an edge over its contemporary popular iPhone 3GS is the high resolution 4.3 inch 800 x 480 capacitive display, and a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash. From all the video demos that we have seen so far, it looks like HTC has finally got a killer phone which is going to prove itself equal, if not better to iPhone 3GS.
The Mozilla Foundation has just released a new version of Firefox, codenamed Fennec for all Windows Phones running Windows Mobile 6.0 or later. The main focus of Fennec is to bring decent desktop browser like functionality to Windows Mobile devices which are currently lacking a browser like Safari is for iPhone.
Windows Mobile team at Microsoft is clearly at work these as we get to see new improvements every week. The latest Build 23022 of Windows Mobile 6.5 is out. It has got all the features ported from Build 219xx plus some more new features and improvements. The whole UI looks much more cleaner now and is much more speedy plus memory management in this new Build is said to be excellent.
