Here is a simple how-to guide on running Windows Phone 7 Series emulator without having to run the entire Visual Studio 2010 IDE. If you have installed the development tools (including Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows phone), you’ll notice that the .exe file for emulator (xde.exe) is automatically installed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft XDE\1.0\ location. Simply double clicking on Xde.exe file wont start the emulator as it requires some command line parameters.

The recent announcement of Windows Phone 7 Series at the MWC 2010 in Barcelona, Spain, created big waves among the mobile phone business community. The new OS is impressive, and has generally been received well by those who got a hands-on the preview devices at MWC.
Microsoft has finally updated the Windows Marketplace for Mobile to version 1.2.1417.0001 . This new version brings the much needed feature where users can now select on whether they want to install the downloaded apps to the onboard storage, or to the external storage card. Also added is the ability to choose any region/market from which you want to download and install apps. What this means is that even if you are living outside US, you can still access the US store and install the apps from there by simply changing your region to “United States”.
Just found this out on WinMo.nl website and thought it was worthy of a share. What you see here is a HTC HD2 running one of the early builds of Windows Phone 7 Series. According to the site, the build was working nice and smooth and it was shown running on HD2 to the audience in Barcelona present at MWC.
