An Italian site contacted Comex today to ask him about whether he is going to wait for Verizon iPhone 4 to launch, and the next iOS release, that is iOS 4.3 / 4.2.5 before releasing his untethered jailbreak. Comex swiftly replied that one month is too long a wait to keep the long-awaited untethered jailbreak from releasing.
Earlier today, Verizon announced the much awaited arrival of iPhone 4 on their CDMA network. Feature wise, it is exactly the same iPhone 4 which was launched back in June on AT&T’s GSM network. To make it work on a CDMA network, Apple naturally had to make some changes. These changes are subtle, as shown in the hands-on video here, and were required to make iPhone 4 work on a CDMA network.
Last week, Verizon sent out invites for their press event which is going to be held in the New York City tomorrow. WSJ has just announced that “a person familiar with the matter” (Presumably the same person, who confirmed this event would be iPhone related) claims that Verizon will be offering unlimited data plan to iPhone users.
Well well.. what do we have here. Verizon Wireless has just sent out invites for an event which they are holding in New York City on January 11, 2011.
AT&T has been exclusively holding the iPhone for three years now, and it looks as if it’s finally going to come to an end soon. Apple is expected to announce the Verizon iPhone in early 2011. BusinessWeek reports that the announcement may not take place at CES 2011, but shortly afterwards, either by or before Valentines Day i.e. February 14th.
