If there is one thing that the world isn't short of, it's books that claim to tell the story of Steve Jobs, whether it be his life during the early days of Apple or his triumphant return to the company he founded after his ousting years earlier. Some even span his whole life. There have been movies on the subject and a new one, penned by The West Wing's Aaron Sorkin is set to hit the big screen later this year.
Today would mark the 60th birthday of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, and Tim Cook honored the great visionary with a tweet while quoting one of his sayings. Head on over the jump for more details.
The much talked about and often actor-less Steve Jobs biopic penned by Aaron Sorkin has finally begun filming, with Steve Jobs' former home being kitted out and ready for action.
Eight years ago today, on the 9th of January, the first iPhone keynote was delivered by Steve Jobs at Macworld in San Francisco, and not many could have imagined the revolutionizing player this little gadget would prove to be in shaping the mobile phone industry.
According to an interview from 1996, Steve Jobs, while talking about the Web, had predicted the coming of the e-commerce era. This was a time when the Internet or Web had not really taken off and were a new technological phenomenon.
Steve Jobs is rightly considered among the key influencers of the modern Digital Age, but while he is remembered for founding Apple and driving it to the great success it is today with products like the iPod, iPad, MacBook and iPhone, there was a period between the mid eighties and nineties that is often overlooked in the tale of the late, great innovator. In 1985, he was forced out of the company that he helped to create from the ground up, and in rare, previously unseen snaps, we catch a glimpse of Jobs in the moments after this pivotal occasion in his career.
For quite some time, there have been rumors moving around that the Steve Jobs biographical motion picture (or biopic, as it's usually called) might be adopted by Universal Pictures, since Sony Pictures is considering dropping the project. Just a week ago, Sony actually did drop the project, and a week later, it has been taken up by Universal Pictures, confirmed a source to The Hollywood Reporter.
The late Steve Jobs, possibly one of the most iconic individuals and inspirational company founders of our time, suffered numerous setbacks in his career before eventually returning to Cupertino to inject life back into his beloved Apple in a true phoenix from the flames fairytale story. The proposed movie of his life, as scripted by Oscar winner Aaron Sorkin and rumored to be directed by Danny Boyle of Slumdog Millionaire fame, seems set to face a journey of similar obstacles after a surprising turnaround by Sony Pictures.
Aaron Sorkin's Steve Jobs biopic is having something of a hard time of it of late. First, apparently after plenty of negotiations, Leonardo DiCaprio decided that the role of Steve Jobs wasn't for him which opened the door for British actor and Batman himself Christian Bale. Now it's looking increasingly like Sorkin will once again have to be on the lookout for a new Jobs after Bale reportedly decided that he too won't be playing the iconic Apple co-founder.
With Christian Bale having now been confirmed as playing Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic of the Apple co-founder, it seemed that Aaron Sorkin's much delayed and at one point almost crippled project was starting to gather pace. Today it now looks like it's well and truly trundling along rather nicely with rumors now swirling that the part of Jobs' partner in creating Apple has also been cast.
