We love the iPad Smart Cover and we know you folks do, too. So when we got wind of the fact that the Smart Cover for the 9.7-inch iPad was available at a huge 50% discount, we wanted to make sure everyone was able to take advantage of it.
Apple announced new iPad mini and iPad Air tablets earlier today, and now we also have the Smart Folio covers to go alongside them.
Apple has today been granted a new patent for an Apple Smart Cover, and although such a thing does already exist, this one certainly features one or two things that you won't find in any current product. The patent, which we covered back in 2012 when Apple originally filed for it, goes on to explain that the Smart Cover in question would feature not just an additional touchscreen, but also WACOM-like stylus-drawing capabilities, among other things.
The past week has been relatively busy for Microsoft, with the grand unveiling of the all-new Windows 10 operating system, but while the upcoming OS will no doubt consume much of the company's time and resources over the next six or so months, it's not the only exciting product currently in the works from the software maker. The Apple iPad is the most popular tablet in the mobile industry, and has been since its inception, but while the Cupertino slate can do no wrong when it comes to helping consumers part with their money, a study by a 14-year-old Californian student has revealed that the device can potentially interfere with implanted defibrillators.
Apple is a company which rarely takes the easy route and conforms to trends in the market just for the sake of keeping up an appearance. This individual approach to the design and development of new products and services has served them well in the past, but has also meant they have come under fire from investors and analysts who believe they may get left behind as they look for the next big innovation. One of the latest key features that is set to be introduced in the next wave of smartphones and tablets is wireless charging, and although Apple have spoken out about this in the past, it looks like they could be in the process of coming up with a solution of their own for future iPad tablets.
As part of their ongoing desire to produce innovative and truly remarkable products which push the boundaries of an already progressing industry, Apple has filed a patent application for a cover attachment that comes with an embedded flexible display. The application has been brought to public attention by the United States Patent Application Office that published it on their website this morning, but the interesting thing about this application is that it was filed originally in August of last year, only five months after the release of the initial Smart Cover with the second-generation iPad.
Two new Smart Cover-like Nexus 7 cases have been outed by a UK accessory retailer, with the two protective options both featuring similar magnet technology that allows the tablet's screen to be turned on or off based on the case's position and orientation.
The MacBook Pro isn't the only thing getting updated today, Apple is also updating the Smart Cover for iPad 2 devices. Of course its not as awesome as a hardware upgrade, but let's see what they are updating.
At the very basic level, there are two types of keyboards in use on smartphones today: physical and virtual. Virtual keyboards, like that on the iPhone and popular Android devices, are generally more widespread while physical keyboards are more popular with people who prefer tactile feedback which is, of course, missing on virtual keyboards.
