The iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c are still hot off Apple's manufacture line, and we've already done a lot of coverage here on Redmond Pie on both of them. I need a little more time to consolidate my opinion regarding the iPhone 5s, but as the iPhone 5c mainly consists of the iPhone 5 components, I felt ready to bring you my full video review. You may also have missed some of our other coverage regarding each of the two handsets, so you'll be able to find all of it within this post.
After months of testing, leaks and mass panic, Apple's iOS 7 is here. Of course, it's been available as an under the radar update for anyone who's been brave enough to look for it, but now it's legit.
With the iPhone having revolutionized the phone as we know it, it's no surprise that with the 6th-generation iPhone, it still remains one of the most popular handsets on the market. You can hardly get on a bus, train or walk down the street, without seeing someone with an iPhone.
I have been testing Samsung Galaxy S4 here at Redmond Pie, and having spent quite a few days putting it through its paces, I’m going to be offering my critical assessment. The latest in an immensely popular series, it’s easily the most sought-after handset of the year thus far, and if you’re currently on the fence with regards to whether the device warrants your hard-earned cash, you’ll hopefully be a little closer to deciding after reading this hands-on review.
One of the ongoing battles faced by smartphone and tablet vendors, particularly when attempting to bump the specs up a generation, is maintaining a relatively strong battery life. Squeezing better hardware into the same (or an even smaller) package places an incredible amount of strain on the juice-o-meter, and while the major companies have managed relatively well thus far, there are always those occasions where we wish the battery retention was just a little bit greater. There are plenty of remedial peripherals currently on the market, particularly for Apple's flagship iPhone 5, and in our quest to bring you as many of the latest and greatest gadgets and accessories, we'll today be checking out the NuCharge battery pack and case designed by London-based iKit.
Many of us like to, or are often forced through work commitments, to travel around on a frequent basis. As a hardcore geek, blogger, and general Internet obsessive, I take my MacBook Air pretty much everywhere I go, but as any seasoned journeyman would vouch, plugging in for a charge at any given location can be a trying task. With so many variants of the two-pin plug aiming to make life as difficult for somebody like myself, who has only ever used the three-pin here in the UK, it winds up being another annoying thing to tick off the list of pre-travelling to-dos.
This holiday season and beyond, we’re going to be bringing you more hands-on reviews of the products you love, and whether you’re in the market for a new device, peripheral or accessory, we’ll be featuring many of the market essentials here at Redmond Pie. Now, the iPhone 5 is one of, if not the most sought-after gadget on the market at present, so what better place to start, we thought, than to get on the hunt for some of the most interesting, quirky and robust cases for the revered handset. Heading off the series of cases for the sixth-gen Apple smartphone is the BookBook from Twelve South.
Back in June, Apple unveiled iOS 6 with much fan fair: the release included great long-expected additions, which included the big surprise of ditching Google Maps for Apple’s own system. While great additions were brought to the table, Maps in sixth generation iOS has had its own share of post-launch issues and inaccuracies (for London users, as an example, all of the Underground stations magically disappeared from an iOS version to another). Google has seized this opportunity to bring back its Maps to the iPhone, this time as a standalone map. Overall, we think you should give it a look.
With Apple's success in the smartphone and tablet arenas, it is easy to sometimes forget where Apple made its name. Desktop computers, and later ultra stylish notebook machines have been Apple's meat and drink since the company was founded way back when in that famous garage. Since then the Mac has been born, and the world of iOS has come to fruition thanks to the ever popular iPad and iPhone devices.
