After releasing PwnageTool 4.1.1 yesterday, the iPhone Dev Team today has silently updated PwnageTool to 4.1.2 to fix jailbreaking issues for OS X 1.5.x Leopard users. Again, as far as the jailbreak, compatibility and the exploit is concerned, this release offers nothing new except for this bug fix.
PwnageTool 4.1 has been released. You can use it to cook custom firmware files without the upgraded (2.10.4 / 05.14.02) baseband for iPhone 4, 3GS and iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.1 so that you can unlock it using the existing version of Ultrasn0w. This version of PwnageTool also supports hacktivation.
The iPhone Dev Team has finally teased us with a screenshot of the upcoming PwnageTool 4.1 for all iOS devices. This new version of PwnageTool is based on Geohot’s Limera1n bootrom exploit which will allow us to restore custom cooked firmwares (without the upgraded 05.14.04 / 2.10.4 basebands) on almost all the current iOS devices, including: iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 3G, Apple TV, iPad and iPod touch 4G / 3G / 2G. This will enable all iPhone users to unlock using the current version of Ultrasn0w so that they can use the phone on any carrier they like!
