Apple certainly delivered the goods at WWDC, and although most were pleased with iOS 6, Mountain Lion, and the hardware upgrades across the board, the introduction of the new "next-gen" MacBook Pro with Retina display was certainly a sight for sore eyes.
Apple always manages to come through with a surprise or two at WWDC, and this year is no exception. In a move that nobody foresaw, the Cupertino outfit has unveiled a brand-new, "Next Generation MacBook Pro."
Yesterday, we covered a rather dubious looking spec print supposedly detailing the next 13-inch MacBook Pro, but today, courtesy of the guys over at 9to5Mac, we have something a little more legitimate looking. With WWDC next week, the talk of a MacBook refresh is really hotting up, and this latest leak details the prices - in US and Australian dollars - of the Mac range, as well as other associated peripherals.
With the third-gen iPad having released back in March and the next iPhone expected sometime this fall, this year's WWDC is expected to announce a MacBook refresh. Rumors have been constant, with many reports suggesting Apple would implement the famous Retina display to its notebook range, but a screenshot of a purported specs list of a new MacBook Pro suggests otherwise.
Two rumors that just keep on coming back around both involve Apple's portable machines, and we don't mean the iPad or iPhone. The first is the perpetual rumor that a new line of MacBooks is set to be unleashed, with new devices overdue and very much anticipated by roar warriors the world over.
While I often ignore the senseless rumors that come from the tomfoolery of tech "analysts", this latest one claiming that Apple plans to discontinue the 17" MacBook Pro comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI Securities who has gotten some things right about Apple products in the past. Kuo believes that this discontinuation will come as a result of Apple's convergence of the Apple's Air and Pro notebook lineups. In Q1 of 2012, Apple sold roughly 3.1 million notebooks. Out of that figure, nearly half of those were of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Kuo has a bleak estimation of the 17-inch Pro sales figure, however, stating that only 50,000 were sold in that quarter.
Amid all the talk of the iPad 3, Digitimes has remembered that Apple does indeed release other products besides the now hotly-anticipated third tablet installment - set to be launched on March 7th.
According to a report published earlier today, Apple is looking to introduce Retina Displays to their MacBook Pro lineup of high-end notebooks. Details available after the jump!
After receiving a big spec bump earlier this year, the MacBook Pro lineup today received a smaller, but still appreciated bump in specifications. You can check out the details after jump!
According to information gathered by 9to5mac, the current stock of MacBook Pros are seriously low, which can mean one of two things; Either the demand is significantly outweighing the supply, or Apple is planning to alter the line-up.
