While iOS 5 is quickly nearing completion, Apple might feel the need to issue one final update for iOS 4: iOS 4.3.4. According to people familiar to the matter in the jailbreaking scene, Apple might indeed be preparing a final update for iOS to render the recently-leaked JailbreakMe iPad 2 jailbreak useless.
A few weeks ago, we reported that Comex, author of JailbreakMe, was working on a fully untethered iPad 2 Jailbreak. After two weeks of radio silence from the developer, what seems to be JailbreakMe 3.0, with support for the iPad 2, was leaked by one of the private beta testers. Here's how to get it.
It’s been more than three months since Apple started shipping the iPad 2 and the jailbreaking community really doesn’t appear to be satisfying jailbreaking, iPad 2-toting junkies.
The next jailbreak (demoed earlier) could be packaged in a JailbreakMe like web-based app, hints a recent conversation between Comex and a random user on Twitter.
The SHAtter exploit based GreenPois0n tool is all set to arrive on October 10. But unfortunately, it will only jailbreak the fourth-generation devices like the iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 4G and the Apple TV 2G. This limitation is because of the nature of how the low level bootrom exploit SHAtter works.
We have been constantly getting reports from our readers, both by email and in comments about JailbreakMe.com being down for them. If you are unable to access JailbreakMe.com on any if your iOS device, try out the following fixes. One of these will hopefully fix the problem for you so that you can jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Yesterday, Apple released the iOS 4.0.2 for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod touch 3G / 2G and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad to fix the PDF exploit which was used by JailbreakMe.com. Since the nature of exploit was highly vulnerable, Apple recommended everyone to update to this new firmware in order to secure all iOS based devices. This of course also meant that jailbreak and unlock for iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad and iPod touch 3G on iOS 4.0.2 / 3.2.2 will not be possible for these mentioned devices.
iOS 3.2.2 for iPad WiFi and iPad 3G is out! This update fixes the vulnerability in iOS which allows hackers to execute malicious code via PDF exploit in Safari. JailbreakMe used the same exploit to jailbreak all iPhones, iPod touches and iPads. Since this new update patches the exploit used by JailbreakMe, you wont be able to jailbreak your iPad until a new jailbreak tool is available.
iPhone and iPod touch Jailbreakers, Do Not Update to iOS 4.0.2 Until New Jailbreak Tool is Available
Apple has pushed out the new iOS 4.0.2 firmware for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3G and iPod touch 3G / 2G. This new firmware is basically a security update which patches the PDF exploit used by JailbreakMe to jailbreak all iOS devices. Now if you care about your security, you can go ahead and update now but doing so will make your iPhone 4, 3GS and iPod touch 3G / 2G unjailbreakable until a new jailbreak tool is available.
There are rumors flying left and right about Apple releasing the iOS 4.0.2 firmware for iPhones and iPod touches and iOS 3.2.2 for iPad in only a few hours from now. This update will patch the PDF exploit which is used by JailbreaMe to jailbreak all iOS devices. If you accidently update to iOS 4.0.2 / iOS 3.2.2, it will be impossible for you to jailbreak and unlock straight away until a new tool is available. The only way you can jailbreak again will be by downgrading back to iOS 4.0.1 or iOS 4 for which you will need your SHSH blobs.
