Well that didn't take long! As Engadget reports, Sony's latest PS3 firmware v3.56 has been hacked in just 24 hours after its release.
Well well well, what do we have here? Engadget reports that a US District Court has granted Sony a temporary restraining order against George Hotz, or Geohot as you may know him. Sony had previously sued everyone's favorite hacker for jailbreaking the Japanese company's PlayStation 3.
It was only a few days ago when we posted about how the PS3 was pwned for life. And now, KaKaRoTo has released some tools that will allow you to install your very own custom firmware on the PlayStation 3.
This is starting to look like one of those classic cat and mouse games that passionate hackers and manufacturers often like to play: Sony keeps patching holes in its firmware that allow jailbreaking, while the jailbreaking community finds new ones to thwart Sony’s plans.
Folks at XDA-Developers have managed to hack PlayStation 3 with Google Android phones. With this hack or let’s just refer it to as jailbreak, you’ll be able to create backups of your PS3 games. You’ll have to use Google to find other uses.
We saw it coming didn't we? Why pay $169 for PSJailbreak or even $30 for its clone x3Jailbreak when you can get it all for free? A group of hackers have successfully managed to clone and release open source version of PSJailbreak called PSGroove. What this means is that you will now be able to create your own PS3 (PlayStation 3) jailbreaks to replicate what PSJailbreak can do.
