If you recently unlocked your iPhone 4 and tried to run it on a T-Mobile US SIM, you must have noticed that MMS doesn’t work anymore. Well good news is that there is now a fix available in Cydia which will fix this problem once and for all.
JailbreakMe has to be hands down the easiest jailbreak method ever, but since it uses userland exploit like Spirit, it doesn’t hacktivate phones. iPhone dev and hacker named Sherif Hashim came up with a way to activate phones without having the original SIM cards but now it seems like Apple has found out about the phonebook SIM card trick and they have blocked it. And so if you activated your phone using phonebook SIM card, you will be getting the dreaded “Different SIM Detected” error on your lockscreen as shown in the screenshot below.
The newly released jailbreak tool named JailbreakMe 2.0 Star makes use of a PDF vulnerability which is present in iOS’ Mobile Safari browser. Now that JailbreakMe has been released, and that the exploit is public, hackers can make use of this exploit by making you download a PDF file in Safari, in the process installing some malicious code to ultimately take control of your iOS device.
Just a quick heads up for those of you are still stuck at Purple-colored (space) screen when jailbreaking iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch or iPad using JailbreakMe 2.0. As most of you might have already read it on our Facebook fanpage, the problem is caused because of cache which needs to be cleared before you can jailbreak your device. The instructions are as follows.
We all have been waiting for this!! And now that iPhone 4 jailbreak has been released to public, the much awaited update to My3G app has been released !! With this new updated version of My3G for iPhone 4, you can now make FaceTime video calls over your cellular 3G network which otherwise isn't possible. Listening to an all-star podcast interview which involved iPhone devs like Comex, Planetbeing, Chpwn and iH8sn0w who are working on jailbreak and unlock scene, there was this question which the hosts asked the devs about when is the iPhone 4 and iOS 4.x jailbreak is expected to be out. While no specific release date was given, they did said that jailbreak is “pretty close to done”. They are now waiting for Saurik (creator of Cydia) to fix couple of loose ends before it is released. iPhone 4 unlock on the other hand is 100 percent done and is waiting for jailbreak to be released.
In his recent interview with Make It Work, Jay Freeman who is more popularly known as Saurik talks about iPhone 4 jailbreak, in the process showing us a glimpse of REAL jailbroken iPhone 4. For those of you who don’t know, Saurik is the guy behind the Cydia store found on jailbroken iOS based devices. Check out his interview on video after the break.
MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has managed to unlock his iPhone 4 by a different method than the one shown by Planetbeing (of Android port for iPhone fame) last week. Apparently, there are three methods by which iPhone 4 baseband can be unlocked. The first one was used by Planetbeing and was demonstrated last week. This one by MuscleNerd uses a different technique. Image after the break.
