If you have been using your iPad on a desk with the official iPad Keyboard Dock accessory, you might have felt the need of having a mouse to control iPad’s screen. This is because it is more convenient to use a pointing device for interacting with a device when it is placed in a standing position on a desk, just like how we do with our desktop monitors, notebooks/netbooks and so on.
iPad’s official Camera Connection Kit has turned out to be a pretty useful accessory from the last time we saw it. After surprising us with the ability to support USB headset and keyboard, you can now also use it to connect an external hard drive with your iPad for extra storage.
The initial release of Spirit had this bug, which accidently deleted all photos from the iDevice which you used to jailbreak with it. If you were wise enough to make a backup before jailbreaking your device, you can now recover it using iPhone Backup Extractor.
We have already covered extensive guides/tutorials on jailbreaking iPad with the all-in-one iDevice tool named Spirit which is available on both Windows and Mac. For those of you who don't know, Spirit can jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2 and iPhone OS 3.1.3 on iPhone 3G/3GS (including new models), iPod touch 2G/3G (including new models) and iPad on OS 3.2 - untethered.
The following guide will help you enable “Voice Control” feature which is found in iPhone 3GS and the 3rd-gen iPod touch 3G. Make sure you have jailbroken your iPad prior to following this guide. Step by step guide on how to jailbreak your iPad using Spirit can be found here.
Spirit – the untethered userland jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2 has finally arrived. For the end user, Spirit looks and works (in fact Spirit is easier!) very much like Geohot’s blackra1n. It is available for both Windows and Mac OS X.
Wow! There is some great work being done in the jailbreaking community for the newly released iPad 3G. The infamous iPhone Dev Team has managed to send SMS text messages from iPad 3G using command line terminal. Even though it is early in development (no GUI), it still gets to show one of the many possibilities that you can get using a jailbroken iDevice.
iPad 3G has been successfully jailbroken only within a few hours of its launch. MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has just posted couple of pictures and a video, showing a jailbroken iPad running Cydia. The upcoming Spirit userland jailbreaking software is the tool which is said to have been used to achieve this.
This will erupt lots of cries and disappointment but this was important to post as I know many of you have been really looking forward to it. The creator of Spirit has posted an update, “now” confirming that he is not going to release his jailbreak tool on Friday (tomorrow). Moreover, he has also deleted his “update” where he said that it was coming this Friday.
Well it now looks like Geohot is not going to release his jailbreaking bits for the iPhone and iPad anytime soon. According to some of his recent tweets, his tools are not ready for primetime use yet. What this probably means now is that he is not going to release blackra1n for untethered iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak (as previously thought), iPhone OS 4 and iPad before the next-iPhone is out this summer.
