This new tool utilizes userland jailbreak vulnerability which enables it to jailbreak any iOS device on the latest firmware right from the Safari browser. More details on the jailbreak can be found here, and here.
JailbreakMe 2.0 Star is the name! - The userland jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3G on iOS 4 / 4.0.1, iPod touch on iOS 4, and iPad on iOS 3.2.1 is out !!. Here is a quick update on the upcoming Comex’s jailbreak for iPhone 4 and iOS 4 / 4.0.1. It was only yesterday when we informed you all that Comex in an interview said that he is “almost” done with the jailbreak and now he is waiting for Saurik (the creator of Cydia) to complete the last bits which are required for the jailbreak.
In his recent interview with Make It Work, Jay Freeman who is more popularly known as Saurik talks about iPhone 4 jailbreak, in the process showing us a glimpse of REAL jailbroken iPhone 4. For those of you who don’t know, Saurik is the guy behind the Cydia store found on jailbroken iOS based devices. Check out his interview on video after the break.
Earlier today, the guy behind Spirit jailbreak tool came out with a series of tweets which hints towards the possibility of the “next version” of Spirit jailbreak tool coming very soon. We don’t know for sure if it will be called Spirit or Spirit v2, but what we know is that it is based on userland exploit, and that it will work with all iOS based devices including iPhone 4 on iOS 4.0.1 / 4.1 and iPad on iOS 3.2.1.
The iPhone hacker behind sn0wbreeze, f0recast and BlackBreeze today has announced Sn0wbreeze V2.0 which promises to jailbreak iOS 3.1.x, 4.0, 4.0.1 and 4.1 Beta. Sn0wbreeze 2.0 will support: iPhone 3GS (old bootrom pwned on iOS 4.x, and new bootrom pwned on 3.1.2 or with 3.1.2 SHSH blobs), iPhone 3G, iPod touch 2G (non-MC model, and already jailbroken on iOS 4.x), and iPod touch 3G and 2G (MC model) pwned on 3.1.2 or with 3.1.2 SHSH blobs. While there is no ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) on the release yet, but there is no reason why it shouldn’t be soon.
Let me clear this upfront. This is strictly for iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) only. If your iPhone 3G relies on an unlock, DO NOT update to iOS 4.1 Beta now as the current version of ultrasn0w cannot unlock this new firmware.
If you have iPhone 3G (which doesn’t rely on an unlock), or an iPod touch 2G (non-MC model), then simply follow the guide posted to below jailbreak your device on iOS 4.1 Beta using Redsn0w.
With iOS 4, Apple introduced iAd program so that developers can generate some revenues whilst keeping their apps free in the iTunes App Store. While the ads delivered by iAd are interactive and all, they are still of annoyance for most users. And so if you like your apps ads free, you can disable them all using a free app called iAdKiller for jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches.
In an unexpected update to his last blog post titled “Meh”, Geohot has announced that he, for the time being at least has kind of abandoned the whole iPhone jailbreak and unlock scene. The reasons according to him are as follows.
