Apple is a company constantly shrouded in mystery, and thus, speculation. For a great deal of time, it has been said that the Cupertino would be looking to expand upon the Apple TV set-top box with a more grandiose delve into the television market, but while many an analyst has stepped forward and suggested that this will be the case, the little black box famously coined as a "hobby" by Tim Cook remains the iPad maker's sole contribution.
Even though the iPhone 5s remains very much mid-launch on the count of the fact that Apple is still struggling to ship the numbers to meet the rampant demand, talk has already begun of the next-gen Cupertino handset, and ETNews has cited those oh-so familiar industry sources in suggesting that the device will indeed pack a 5-inch display, which is much more in-keeping with current market trends. The report also goes on to shed some light on the heavily rumored iWatch, which, according to the report, will feature a flexible OLED display.
Google may be all set to bet the bank on Google Glass, but all the rumors suggest that Apple is set to come up with its own wearable technology, but not of the spectacled variety. If all the analysts are right, then Apple is set to announce a watch based on iOS. If they're really right, then it'll be an iWatch.
The iWatch concepts have been rolling through thick and fast these past few months, and with Apple said to have a team of over 100 developers and engineers on the task of bringing such a device to market, it doesn't feel as much of a pipedream as it used to. Martin Hajek is one designer that has really taken to this particular Apple project, and having cooked up a number of concept designs already, has come through with yet another attractive set of iWatch renders. More details, plus lots of images, after the jump.
Forget about the seventh-generation iPhone. Forget about the rumored Retina iPad mini and forget about the potential for any so-called "iPad killers" that may stem from the next-generation of tablet devices released by Google and their partners. If the speculation is to be believed, the next consumer technology battle could be fought by companies who are prepared to hit the market with some kind of advanced wearable technology. Google has already thrown their hat into the ring with the Glass project and it looks like Apple could be next if the iOS-powered iWatch becomes reality, but where would consumer allegiance lie?
The blogosphere has been getting itself in something of a tizzy over the idea of Apple bringing a so-called "iWatch" to the market. Ever since, it seems, the Pebble Smartwatch finally set a release bracket following its Kickstarter phenomenon, the talk of Apple exploring this market has been without relent. We've heard several inconsequential reports pertaining to a supposed iWatch over the years, but there's a lingering feeling that this time, it's for real, and Bloomberg has shed even further light on the matter by stating that it expects the Cupertino company to come through with such a device within the next nine months.
When it comes to Apple based rumors, we have learned in the past that there is generally no smoke without fire, which could be a particularly interesting idiom for technology lovers considering the speculation surrounding an Apple branded wrist watch just won't seem to go away. We've been hearing for quite some time that Apple is planning on jumping aboard the smart watch band wagon, but additional fuel has been added to the fire thanks to unnamed sources residing within the company's Cupertino campus.
It's hard to ignore the increasing wave of iWatch concept ideas. It's almost as if the community is not-so-subtly hinting at something, and one designer operating under the Twitter handle @ipavel has come through with one of the best we've seen yet. It combines cutting-edge finesse with a logical, innovative set of features to back it up, and we've got all the details after the break!
The previous-gen iPod nano certainly whet the appetites of those dreaming an iWatch. For some reason, the idea of the wearable iOS device is something people seem to really yearn for, and although said nano was little more than a trumped-up, iOS-ified iPod nano with a separately-sold wrist strap, it gave us a glimpse, perhaps, into the future. Today, the iWatch rumors have been reignited once more, and as well as the possibility of a release in the first half of 2013, the speculators are touting a possible 1.5-inch OLED display, Bluetooth 4.0, and - get this - the involvement of chip-making extraordinaire Intel.
In terms of concept designs, Apple has pretty much been covered in every aspect. Any hint of a new product is designed by enthusiasts for the masses to drool over, and even if it's not likely to ever hit the market, a fan of the Cupertino company will likely be sitting at their Mac, dreaming it up.
