The all-new iPod touch 6 is definitely a remarkable device, given the significant upgrade Apple has packed into its iOS-based portable media player. The refreshed iPod touch was launched just a short while back, and luckily, some benchmark results have already dropped in detailing just how much of a punch it actually packs.
Along with the announcement of a brand new iPod line for 2015, Apple has pushed out iOS 8.4 firmware for the new iPod touch 6 to keep it in line with rest of the iOS device lineup. The firmware file is now immediately available for download.
A newly published report claims that Apple is planning to release a refreshed iPod touch, as well as the iPod nano and iPod shuffle, with the aforementioned devices due for announcement just four days from now - on July 14.
The iPod touch hasn't seen any love for quite a while now - two-and-a-half years, to be precise - and with the Apple Watch now at the forefront of attention, the once-revered "iPhone without the phone part" has faded into the abyss. Some have, quite naturally, tipped the demise of the iPod touch, and given that Apple sells as large a variety of iPhone as it ever has - four models with three different display sizes and price points - it's hard to argue. Rumor has it, though, that the iPod touch will be back with a bang, boasting a bumped processor, camera and other enhancements.

Today may well go down as the day that we saw Apple announce two new iPhones during the same press event, but it's also the day that some of its often forgotten products also received a minor facelift. And by minor, we mean they got a new color.
We are used to seeing Apple holding large press and media events, with the intention of generating the maximum interest possible for any new hardware launch. But it seems that the relatively silent launch of the new 16GB iPod touch has passed by without any fuss coming from Cupertino campus. The immediate release of a 16GB variant of the fifth-generation iPod touch may have taken a few by surprise, especially considering the timing is only a few weeks shy of Apple's annual WWDC, but it serves as a replacement for the fourth-generation 16GB model that remained on sale when the larger 4-inch iPod touch 5G was announced last year.
Cydia creator Jay Freeman, better known as Saurik, is well known for his long, insightful speeches on numerous topics relating to the jailbreak scene, and today, has taken to his official blog to give users a better insight into the limitations of SHSH blobs and APTickets. Backing up these little clusters of information offers significant downgrade potential to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users, but what has recently become apparent to Saurik, is that they're essentially useless to some of the more recent devices. As well as explaining and clarifying a few matters relating to APTickets and SHSH blobs, he also tries to convey, in layman's terms, why we cannot downgrade to 6.1.2-6.0 from 6.1.3 or later using Cydia’s SHSH blobs and APTickets on older A4 devices.
