Apple's 2017 iPhone has one again been rumored to axe the physical Touch ID / Home button. Here are the details.
Apple is working on a new, premium iPhone for release some time in 2017, much like the oft-rumored iPhone Pro, according to a new report. Here are the details.
It appears Apple could be planning to make some major changes to the visuals of the iPhone in time for a September 2017 reveal. There have been plenty of speculations over the last few days suggesting that Tim Cook's team will move to a slightly delayed "tick-tock-tock" style of refresh, meaning that we would see an entirely revamped iPhone introduced to the market over a three year cycle. The analyst hints at the possibility for Apple to introduce an iPhone that not only adopts OLED display technology, but that also comes with a dual-curved display.
It's probably fair to say that the majority of Apple fans and analysts find themselves discussing the future of Apple's smartphone range on an almost daily basis. In the short-term, it makes perfect sense to be focusing on the next-generation iPhone, or the iPhone 7, which is due for an official revealing this coming September. However, some publications are attempting to look beyond this year's model by speculating about a potential high performance motor inclusion that could be bundled in the 2017 iPhone and beyond to improve interaction and feedback.
On a recent episode of his The Talk Show podcast, notoriously well-connected Apple blogger John Gruber claimed that the 2017 iPhone would feature an all-new design with a bezel-less edge-to-edge display with integrated Touch ID and FaceTime camera.
The possibility for Apple to skip past the iPhone 7s and move straight to the iPhone 8 most definitely exists, along with the potential for that device to be one of the biggest upgrades that we've seen in recent times. This year's iPhone 7 is expected to feature a design that will somewhat be similar to what we already have with iPhone 6/6s since 2014, however today's report is suggesting that next year's iPhone 8 could blow that away by introducing a "mega cycle" update to the device.
According to a new report, Apple is close to signing a deal with Samsung and LG Display for OLED screens for all its iPhones starting 2018.
According to a new report, screen maker Japan Display plans to start producing OLED displays for Apple's iPhone in Spring of 2018.
Apple has done a seriously impressive job of continually pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible on a smartphone since the launch of the original iPhone back in 2007. And if the speculation regarding the next-generation iPhone turns out to be true then it looks like we could be in for yet another treat this coming September. With that said, wouldn't you just like them to go all out and build an utterly insane device that steps away from the norm and bring some serious next-level features? That's exactly what artist Jermaine Smith has done with his insane iPhone concept.
We're actually pretty keen on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus design, but we know that there are plenty of people out there that disagree, and somewhat strongly. Those antenna lines aren't for everyone, and we can certainly understand why. Given some of the oddities that competitors have come out with in the past though, we're willing to give Apple a small, begrudging pass in that regard.
