According to a recent report from Digitimes, Apple has started developing the next-generation iPad and that it will be using OLED screen technology for the display panels. The panels used are said to be same as the ones used in next-gen iPhone 4G. Apple is planning for a 2011 launch date, which shouldn't be too surprising considering all major Apple products like iPhones, iPods and Macs have a one-year release cycle.
We all saw this coming didn't we? Apple apparently has sent an official letter to Gawker Media – the company which runs Gizmodo blog, requesting them to return their “secret” handset. The letter was signed by Bruce Sewell, the Senior Vice President & General Counsel of Apple Inc and can be seen as attached below.
It now seems like the new iPhone which Engadget got hold of from a bar in San Jose, California was indeed the real deal. Another gadget blog Gizmodo has now got their hands on the handset which they are said to have found from a bar in Redwood City. While we cant say for sure that this is the final design that Apple has zeroed upon, but the likelihood of this being the next-iPhone seems very high now as also confirmed by Apple critic John Gruber of Daring Fireball.
The technology enthusiast site TechnoBuffalo has been tipped by a tipster who has found strong evidences in the latest iPhone OS 4 Beta which hints towards possibility of video chat/calling options coming in the next-generation iPhone. This evidence was found via a process named “iChatAgent”, which is revealed by a $0.99 app named “Free Memory Lite” from the iTunes App Store.
Engadget has got hold of a prototype model, which according to them is “very much” the next-gen iPhone that Apple is expected to release in June of this year. This prototype model was found in an iPhone 3G case, at a bar in San Jose, California.

While there is no official confirmation on this by Apple, rumor has it that the next-generation iPhone, along with iPhone OS 4 will be arriving on June 22. The annual WWDC conference at Mascone Center is going to be the venue where the launching ceremony will take place.
Scheduled dates for Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) for the year 2010 through 2015 has been revealed on a convention calendar (PDF) hosted on a Japanese site for the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau. The list, which was last updated on May 2009 includes incorrect dates for Macworld 2011, but listings for many other future events appear to be accurate. Since the introduction of iPhone (EDGE) in 2007, Apple remained the unipolar champion of the smartphone world. But its unchallenged supremacy has now been challenged by other stalwarts like Google’s Android, and the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series by Microsoft. It will be obligatory for Apple to bring some innovative changes to the device and it just cannot afford the luxury of cooling its heels. In the meanwhile, Android continues to gather momentum, and whereas it lacks iPhone's content and elegance, yet it has started matching Apple in terms of features.
