We have been seeing that every time a new iPhone is released, the price tag of the previous-gen model drops down drastically. When iPhone 3GS came out, 3G price was dropped to $99. And now according to fresh reports Walmart as of today has officially dropped iPhone 3GS price down to just US $97 on two years contract. Apple has also stopped shipping the iPhone 3G 8GB units to AT&T stores and further orders are not being taken anymore. This, if anything, are clear signs of the arrival of new iPhone, the iPhone 4G / HD.
This is now becoming a norm isn't it? Some new pictures of the next iPhone are now floating around the web sphere, showing the metal frame which Apple has used to house the main interior components of this high profile gadget. This is basically that middle unibody piece which will have glass (or plastic) top on each side.
After all those rumors of a CDMA version iPhone coming to Verizon Wireless, fresh new reports from The Tech Update site now claims that a Best Buy employee confirms that Sprint will also be getting the new iPhone this year. If these rumors are indeed true, then this also allow the iPhone 4G (if that's the final name) to live up to its name because of the 4G infrastructure which Sprint offers in selected cities of United States which gives speeds of up to 10 Mbit/s.
After all those announcements of Android 2.2 and Google TV by Google at I/O 2010, a guy named Bryn Webster, emailed Steve Jobs asking him whether Apple has something up their sleeves to blow Google “out of the water”.
We have already seen lots of evidence related to video calling/conferencing feature in both iPhone OS 4 betas and iPad OS 3.2. And now screenshots from a field test firmware on iPhone 4G / HD has surfaced which confirms this even more! According to the source, these were taken during video calling field test on the next iPhone.
After the popularity of the “White” iPhone 4G renderer, the design geniuses is back with more mockups which ads “color” to the original. These stunning renderings are again based on the lost iPhone 4G / HD, and are inspired by the leaked white front panel of the next-gen iPhone which suggested that Apple might be offering the 4th-gen iPhone in both white and black color models full around to the front panel.
Similar to the black front panel for the 4th-gen iPhone which was leaked back in February of this year, Mac Rumors is now reporting on a new front panel for iPhone 4G / HD which is white in color. Traditionally, Apple has offered iPhones in black and white colors with full black front panels for both.
The title says it all. Based on all the rumors and information that we have come to know so far from the lost Apple iPhone, the folks over at AppAdvice have come up with a complete technical specifications page for iPhone 4G / HD in an Apple like page format.
There is yet another twist in the “lost” iPhone 4G tale. The highly controversial search warrant of Gizmodo’s editor Jason Chen and affidavit (PDF link) has revealed that Brian Hogan’s (the guy who found the lost iPhone in a bar) roommate Katherine Martinson tip has led Apple and cops to the arrest of the iPhone 4G finder. She did this to save herself from any wrongdoings as Hogan used her computer to restore the iPhone OS following the remote wipe by Apple.
According to the latest round of rumors, Pegatron (a subsidiary of ASUStek) is said to have won the bid to manufacture the CDMA version of the next Apple iPhone and that it will be available on Verizon Wireless this fall. If this news that we are hearing is true, then it will certainly bring smiles back on the faces of all the AT&T haters out there. A report from Digitimes speculates the following.
