The Apple iPhone hasn't changed a great deal through the past few generations in terms of overall design, but given the recent spate of leaks, it does appear as though Tim Cook's company will repent for this with the iPhone 6. With a curved rear chassis, it's somewhat remnant of both the iPad Air and iPod touch, and for a comparative angle, new images have emerged showing a supposed dummy of the forthcoming handset alongside the iPod touch 5th-gen.
We've seen plenty of dummy leaks regarding the iPhone 6 of late, and today, we've finally got a side-by-side of each purported color configuration. The authenticity of this particular leak is some what questionable, and given that each variant has the same gold trim around the Home button, it's almost certainly not indicative of the finished article. Nevertheless, for a here-and-now take on how the iPhone 6 may look in Space Gray, Silver and Gold, check out these new snaps after the fold!
We've seen a bunch of leaks relating to Apple's as-yet unannounced iPhone 6 smartphone, but while most of them have highlighted the same key features - rounded rear shell, repositioned power button and larger display - a new purported sighting throws in the interesting prospect of a slightly curved display around the edges.
If you're an avid follower of mobile tech coverage, you'll have found that Apple's elusive iPhone 6 continues to command a fairly decent proportion of the blogosphere's column inches, which isn't bad going given that we're still over four months from the purported release. Based on a bunch of info an accompanying leaks, we've painted what we believe to be a fairly vivid picture of what Apple is preparing to release in Q3, and a new comparison of an iPhone 6 mock-up against pre-existing iOS devices offers an even better perspective.
Pegatron, a key manufacturing partner of Apple's in recent years, is reported to have received a mere 15 percent of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6's orders, which is a dramatically smaller slice of the cake than was initially speculated. Even though Apple appears not to be utilizing one of its increasingly close allies in the production of the newer handset, though, Pegatron is still set to play a major role in supplying Cupertino smartphones in 2014, with the report also concluding that a total of 50 million handsets will be produced by Pegatron through this calendar year.
We've been treated to an abundance of leaks so far in our trail of the so-called iPhone 6, and even though it would be jumping the gun to suggest that we've nailed down the design of the forthcoming Apple smartphone, dozens of snaps, cases and mockups have all seemed to point to a larger, more rounded form factor. But while we've seen plenty of the iPhone 6, what we haven't yet clapped eyes on is a comparison with the current flagship, and so to offer a sense of perspective, this latest leak finally offers a visual head-to-head of old versus new.
The team here loves a good concept video. Some of the best concept videos of all time are the ones with the most outlandish features, and things that are just never going to become reality, at least not in the years to come. Whilst these type of concept videos are good fun - they tend to not pose much value as opposed to just entertainment. Occasionally it's the most simple, most realistic concept videos that make the biggest impact.
The iPhone 5s and 5c have managed to capture the attention and affection of millions of users since launch in the third quarter of last year. However, while both models are powerful devices in their own right, they both represent only slight evolutionary improvements over the previous iPhone 5. The iPhone 6 is Apple's chance to change things. To once again try and invigorate and pump some innovation into the smartphone industry. As expected, interest in the purported iPhone 6 is extremely high, with a number of designers putting together the obligatory concept designs of what we could be about to receive.
If you've been skeptical of the iPhone 6 leaks and information that has surfaced so far, perhaps today's very plausible leaked mockup of the forthcoming handset in silver will pique your interest. Sure, with so many months to go until the purported release of the handset, we cannot be entirely sure of what's in store, but given how lifelike this particular leak appears to be, it's also hard to ignore the fact that we may already know what Apple has its up its sleeve.
Following a leak yesterday that offered a very refined look at what the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 might look like from the rear, another plausible video has emerged showcasing a full-on mock-up of the forthcoming handset. Based upon design schematics revealed back in March, it gives us yet another glimpse of what the handset may look like to hold in real life, and given that it incorporates design features that have each been reported multiple times, this is perhaps the most accurate illustration of the upcoming handset that we've seen so far.
