If you've interacted with an HTC device of any description over the past year or two, you'll be more than familiar with the Beats By Dr. Dre logo branded on every top-spec handset. As a part of the Taiwanese company's buy-in to the audio company of the hip-hop mogul, HTC has been readily implementing the Beats technology into its roster. But in a dramatic twist, Beats is now looking to buy HTC out of the company, apparently in the market for an investor to bring some funding for further growth and development.
Until Apple see fit to release of the next generation iPhone, which may be sooner than you think, the iPhone 5 is the hottest competition from the iOS camp for the Android flagships, the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. For this reason, if anyone is wanting to pick up an iPhone 5 in the coming weeks, you may want to think on it just a little bit. From my experience with both the HTC One and the iPhone 5, both are incredibly capable devices, but there is certainly enough differences to bring you 10 reasons which top the One above the 5. These can be found in the video embedded at the end of this post.
HTC's One smartphone is the product of meticulous engineering, and seeing as though the Taiwanese company has quite a lot riding on its success, it would appear that extra provisions have been made to ensure this particular device has the "wow" factor. Like every high-end device on the market, though, it hasn't taken too long for the knockoff makers to come up with a cheaper alternative, and although such clone devices were once very low-end, the 'HDC One' surfacing from China is perhaps anything but low-end.
Rumors of a “Facebook Phone” have been making rounds in the rumor mill for years, with many believing that there is a gap in the market waiting to be filled for a strong social media-powered smartphone. And today, HTC took the wraps off their HTC First Android powered smartphone which will come laced with Facebook Home right out of the box. We got all the details right after the break.
April is an exciting month mainly for two reasons. The first is Samsung's Galaxy S4, which is easily the most anticipated smartphone release this year; and the second is the HTC One, which, for numerous reasons, has already been touted as the best Android handset the market has ever seen, and we agree with the notion wholeheartedly. The latter of the two titans was announced some time ago, but yield issues on some of the hardware powering the device's marquee features have beset numerous delays upon the Taiwanese company. Now though, it looks as though folks interested in the One won't have to wait that much longer, with reports suggesting pre-orders on AT&T could begin as early as Thursday April 4th, with the HTC One release date touted in the April bracket officially.
With a bunch of new devices from Samsung, HTC and Sony joining an already crowded smartphone market, this Spring is certainly a good time to be upgrading your handset. With so many reviews offering varied, mostly opinion-based coverage on which deserves your hard-earned cash, PhoneArena has tried to keep things objective by posting a display performance comparison of each of the industry's most sought-after handsets. Included in the line-up is the iPhone 5, Samsung's current and upcoming Galaxy S4 and the current Galaxy S III, Sony's waterproof Xperia Z, the HTC One, and Nokia's Lumia 920. Check out the comparison after the jump!
For what seems like forever, Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has been known for its "quietly brilliant" tag-line. Over the past three or four years, seldom would you be able to spot those three famous letters without the customary slogan beneath, but today, HTC has dropped the famous tag in an attempt to freshen its image. Rather ironically, the "quietly" element has become something of a self-fulfilling prophecy for HTC, with the company having become less and less visible among a swarm of Galaxy and Nexus devices. Thus, HTC's marketing campaign will, moving forward, include words and themes presenting products "bold," "authentic," and "playful" in nature.
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S4 last week was something of a relief following the months of rumor and speculation, but while many Android fans will have eagerly anticipated the Korean company's latest smartphone, it's certainly not going to enjoy a completely unchallenged release. HTC looks to have put together a very strong challenger to Android's most-lauded device in the form of the questionably-entitled 'One'. With a beautiful aluminum unibody nicely complimented by a Gorilla Glass 2 front panel, it certainly looks the part, and according to an official press statement from HTC itself, it will be heading to the United States by the end of April. More details right after the jump.
With Samsung having finally just announced its latest flagship effort, the Galaxy S4, it’s inevitable that the comparisons will immediately be drawn between it and some of the other high-end handsets currently gracing the market. Although the iPhone 5 naturally springs to mind, a rivaling vendor, HTC, also finally looks to have delivered a respectable contender to market with the One device.
It's rather strange that, even in this day and age where technologies seem to be advancing at an exponential rate, we still have time to consider something as menial as the choice of wallpaper. Whenever a new version of Windows arrives, for example, much is often made of the design choices of the supplementary backdrop selection, and when it comes to smartphones, similar rules apply. HTC's One offers many great features, and with the aftermarket Sense 5 preloaded atop Android Jelly Bean, there's yet another varied selection of wallpapers on offer. HTC's One may not yet have hit the market, but already, its wallpapers have been pulled and upped to the interwebs, and you can download them right now.
