With all the news being taken up with Apple and its almost impossible to find smartphones, it's easy to forget that there were other big releases this week. Just days before the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c went on sale, arguably the biggest gaming release of the year happened.
In the gaming industry, we've become accustomed to Call of Duty taking the crown as the biggest selling game year in, year out. But while we still await the impact of Call of Duty: Ghosts - set for release on November 5th - Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 has already staked a claim to be this year's biggest blockbuster; grossing an eye watering $800m in just one day. To put things into perspective somewhat, last year's release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 made a paltry-by-comparison $500m, so, as some correctly predicted, Grand Theft Auto 5 is the fastest-selling game of all time.
Grand Theft Auto, or GTA, as it is more popularly known, is one of the largest and most successful gaming franchises in the history of the industry, and the upcoming GTA 5 title due for release tomorrow is only going to strengthen that. While there are still a few hours to go to that, the official companion iOS app from Rockstar games, Grand Theft Auto: iFruit, has already gone live in the iTunes App Store.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is almost here, and Rockstar Games, the developer-publisher of the popular franchise, is doing its level best to generate even more hype in anticipation of the September 17th launch than there already is. While naturally dismayed by the news that 40+ hours of the game's famed music content leaked online last week, the company's mission to feed Grand Theft Auto 5 fans plenty of teasers continues, and with several GTA 5 trailers of the title already having been released, including the GTA 5 online gameplay video, another official trailer of the lively Los Santos-based title has just been uploaded to YouTube.
Rockstar Games has been steadfast in its releasing of screenshots and teaser trailers for its upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5, and with just a couple of weeks left until the eagerly awaited retail date, the developer-publisher has come through with another bundle of snaps demonstrating some of the sumptuous scenery. Rockstar has already familiarized us with virtually every facet of the game including the characters, missions, weapons, vehicles, and even the GTA 5 online gameplay trailer, but these screenshots simply focus on the two main aspects of every GTA title: Crime and Leisure.
The days of playing a game for personal gratification are long lost in the modern era of gaming, for aside from flexing your thumbs against some of the world's best in online multiplayer lobbies, one can also clock up the achievements offered by every title released to market. Now, given that Grand Theft Auto 5 is set to be one of the biggest releases of 2013, it stands to reason that hardcore fans might like to know exactly what kinds of achievements are on offer from Rockstar's forthcoming blockbuster, and even though the game won't be around for a month yet, Xbox360Achievements has come through with the juicy details. We run through them after the break, although we wouldn't be fulfilling our duties if we weren't to issue a spoiler alert!
