Samsung Unpacked 2014 Press Invites Go Out; Galaxy S5 Incoming!

Paul Morris·February 4, 2014
Samsung has officially announced that its Unpacked 5 - Episode 1 event will take place on the opening day of this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) gathering, which is February 24th, adding additional speculation regarding the possible introduction of the Galaxy S5 smartphone.

New Galaxy S5 App Leak Reaffirms Fingerprint Sensor On Board

Ben Reid·January 31, 2014
The major smartphone vendors are in a constant battle to outdo each other when it comes to the marquee features of new releases. Apple certainly upped its game with the iPhone 5s, delivering, among other things, Touch ID, and although, for a while, it appeared as though Samsung might counter with an iris scanner for the Galaxy S5, an app leak suggests that the Korean company will instead seek to emulate its bitter rival by including a fingerprint sensor. This would, if true, tie neatly in with a report from early last week that also suggested the S5 would take this route.

Copycat Samsung Galaxy S5 Now Said To Pack A Fingerprint Scanner, No Iris Tech

Ben Reid·January 20, 2014
Aside from the Apple iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S series is easily the most talked-about smartphone on the market, and according to a new report, the Galaxy S5, which is due to be released at some point this year, will follow its Cupertino-made competitor by including a fingerprint scanner. The Touch ID feature, while not heavily lauded, has been adjudged by most to be a solid, worthy addition to the Apple iPhone 5s, and with Samsung always looking to expand and improve its roster with new and exciting marquee features, it would seem that the Korean company's next flagship will arrive with its own fingerprint-detecting technology.

New Screenshot Of Galaxy S5 TouchWiz Interface Leaked, Here’s What It Looks Like

Paul Morris·January 20, 2014
We now have additional evidence to suggest that Samsung's recent decision to overhaul the user-interface in its PRO Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab tablets could soon be followed up with a new look throughout. The fresh and modern magazine based design that graced the aforementioned devices definitely managed to capture the imagination of users, which can only be seen as a positive as it seems that upcoming Samsung smartphones will also benefit from a fresh lick of interface paint, as the latest leaked images show.

Galaxy S5 Pricing And Specs Allegedly Confirmed, Will Be Accompanied By Mini And Zoom Variants After Launch

Aatif·January 14, 2014
Does it need saying that there are never enough rumors in the world of technology? Probably not, because we all know that pretty well enough already. The truth is, whenever there’s something big coming up, the rumor mill only seems to pick up pace further, and now we get to hear about the alleged specs for Samsung’s new and upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship Android phone that is expected to be unveiled around March this year.

Galaxy S5 Release Date Tipped By Samsung Exec, Reaffirms Report Of Metal Build

Aatif·January 3, 2014
There have been more than enough rumors around the Galaxy S5 already, and perhaps an equal number of reports have also surfaced dispelling all those rumors (not to mention dampening our hopes), but what kind of rumor mill would it be if it stopped already. Despite the claims that Samsung will play it safe with the upcoming and highlight-anticipated Galaxy S5, a new report from iNews24 makes it seem that the Korean manufacturer might actually be looking to toss in a few fresh ideas for its latest flagship Android smartphone when it gets launched in March (reportedly).

More Galaxy S5 Specs Leak, Suggests Iris Scanner To Counter Apple’s Touch ID

Ben Reid·December 18, 2013
Samsung's Galaxy S series remains, in spite of the successes of the Galaxy Note in recent years, the company's flagship range, and although the likes of the HTC One have shown a great deal of promise this year, it is still comfortably the boss of the high-end Android market. Now, we're hearing reports of what some are already touting to be the Galaxy S5 specs, and it's fair to say, if the revelations carry any weight, that the next big thing out of South Korea will be the beastliest yet.

More Alleged Galaxy S5 Specs Emerge: Features 2K Display, Android 4.4 KitKat And More

Ben Reid·December 5, 2013
Early benchmark results are often a good way of discovering whether a new device is being tested out, and with talk currently rife regarding Samsung's next batch of flagship smartphones, benchmarks found over at GFXBench could already show the full list of specs of the Galaxy S5. The S4 only arrived in the late spring, but with sales having not reached expectations, the Korean company is said to be working doubly hard on its eventual successor. According to the GFXBench results, the device will boast the latest and greatest Android 4.4 KitKat, a Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz as well as a potentially jaw-dropping 2560 x 1440 resolution, or 2K HD display.

Galaxy Gear 2 Set To Be Thinner, Lighter And Come Bundled With The Galaxy S5 [Report]

Oliver Haslam·November 28, 2013
The technology world never stops turning, and the smartphone portion is more fluid than most, which means it's no surprise to anyone that Samsung is hard at work making the Galaxy Gear 2 so soon after the first version hit stores alongside the third generation Galaxy Note.

Alleged Galaxy S5 Metal Frame Leaks, Signals The End Of Plastic Era [Photos]

Ben Reid·November 22, 2013
Of all the recognized companies in the smartphone game, Samsung is the most active in terms of devices released, and as well as a large inventory of mid and low-end handsets, it offers two flagships in the form of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges. It's a fair assessment to make that both series have become a little stale, with both the S4 and Note 3 seeming very similar to their respective predecessors, and this point has been underlined with sales of each falling below the company's high expectations. This places a little extra importance on next year's major releases from the South Korean outfit, and we may just have an insight into the Galaxy S5 thanks to a leaked metal frame purporting to be a legitimate component of the forthcoming device.
