Facebook has just released version 3.2.1 of Facebook for iPhone to fix bug fixes. We havent spotted anything new yet except for the bug fixes. Hit the update button now and let us know if you spot a change or two.
Facebook for iPhone version 3.2 was rolled out last night which brought support for the newly launched “Places” feature, support for background uploading of pictures and videos in iOS 4, along with other visual enhancements such as “Pull-to-Refresh” to iPhone. However for many users including myself, this new version was mostly broken, throwing “Unable to Load this Page” error on most pages. Oh and if you tried removing and reinstalling the app, it simply refuses to login.
At the Facebook HQ in Palo Alto, CA, Facebook CEO and Founder Mark Zuckerberg, along with other developers, engineers and partners at Facebook announced a new location based product called Facebook Places. This is essentially a check-in service like Foursquare and Gowalla that allows you to check-in to places that you have been to share it with all your Facebook friends and family. You will be able to see which of your friends are currently at the same venue and which of them have been there. There is also going to be an option which will allow you to tag your friends into places you check-in. Of course you can change all that in your privacy settings and by default only those who are friends with you on Facebook will be able to see your check-ins. Facebook is also going to keep a complete history of check-ins that you have made at a dedicated page on web.
If his recent Facebook activity has to be believed, than Facebook’s founder and CEO might have just ditched his iPhone for Android. It was only last month when Mark made the headlines for switching to iPhone (it was 3GS, not iPhone 4) from BlackBerry. But the experience wasn’t all that great as he posted about his frustrations with the device, citing poor battery life, and phone calling quality. He also said that he will get the new iPhone 4 and see if that solves all his problems before switching to Android.
If you have been using an iPad, you would know that currently there’s no proper Facebook app available for the iPad yet. The one which is available in the App Store is for the iPhone and the iPod touch. Yes you can run it on the iPad as well but only in native iPhone’s resolution, or in the pixilated x2 size mode. Seeing this, Sobees has come up with a useful Facebook client app for iPad which in all fairness does the job well.
The following step by step guide will help you enable this cool trick with which you can run iPhone apps on iPad without pixelation of any kind in full blown native resolution of iPad. You will need to have a jailbroken iPad to enable this. Follow the step by step guide posted here to jailbreak your iPad on OS 3.2 with Spirit.
Facebook version 3.1 app for iPhone and iPod touch is out! and it brings the much needed support for Push Notification System, along with ability to sync facebook contacts with the native iPhone contacts app. The change log of Facebook 3.1 iPhone app is as follows.
