iPhone security expert and hacker Stefan Esser believes that an untethered exploit for iOS 4.3 will drop after next weekend, that is after Apple has released iOS 4.3 to public.
Pod2g, the guy behind SHAtter and the untethered iOS 4.2.1 exploit for GreenPois0n has discovered yet another vulnerability in iOS for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which can possibly be used on iOS 4.2.1 and 4.3 as well.
Ex-Chronic Dev Team member pod2g has just discovered another exploit (his fourth) that will pwn iPod touch 2G for life! It’s called the usb_control_msg(0xA1, 1) Exploit. The exploit is different from the SHAtter exploit which is expected to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on the newer iPhone 4 / iPod touch 4G and iPad. It is a buffer overflow that is triggered when a USB control message of the type 0xA1.. oh screw it, if you’re the techy type, you can just read the quote below to see how it works.
The iPhone hacker (pod2g of Chronic Dev Team) who previously found the 24kpwn exploit has successfully managed to find another bootrom based exploit which can jailbreak all iOS based devices on the latest iOS 4.1 firmware. What this means is that the next jailbreak most probably is going to be based on bootrom exploit which unlike JailbreakMe will enable users to change boot and recovery mode logos among many other things.
