When trying to restore your iPhone or iPod touch in iTunes with iPhone 3.1 firmware, you may get an error message followed by an error code 1601, 1602, 16xx or 21. To get around this problem, iH8Sn0w has released a handy little tool called iREB (iTunes Restore Error Bypasser) for both Windows and Macs which can help bring your iPhone back to life. The latest version of this program supports iPhone 3.1 firmware running on the original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 1G.
The wait is finally over. Apple has officially announced the availability of iPhone OS 3.1 for all existing users of iPhone and iPod touch (who have purchased OS 3.0) to download for free. The new firmware 3.1 includes a handful of new features and bug fixes and can be downloaded for free from the link given below.
Apple has seeded a testing build of iPhone OS 3.1 to its developers. This version is for development and testing purposes only and should be installed on devices dedicated to iPhone OS 3.1 beta software development. This new beta build doesn't seem like that much of a huge update or a needed update to me, but these extra speed boosts and bug fixes are certainly welcome.
