A working exploit has said to be found by an iPhone hacker named Sherif Hashim. The exploit was sent to iPhone Dev-Team and they have confirmed that it is working but have not given any ETA on when or if they are going to release a tool which is going to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 05.12.01 Baseband for iPhone 3G and 3GS. Maybe they don't want to waste this all important exploit for this minor update and instead will use it when the major update such as iPhone 3.2 or iPhone 4.0 is released with the next-gen iPhone 4G.
The iPhone Dev-Team has just confirmed (sort of.) that they are working on a new version of PwnageTool which will enable iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 firmware without having to update their baseband. For those of you who don't know, PwnageTool, like Sn0wbreeze is an iPhone jailbreaking tool which creates custom .ipsw files without the upgraded baseband.
The final version of redsn0w 0.9 is now available for download. For those of you who don't know, Redsn0w is an alternative jailbreaking tool to blackra1n for both Windows and Mac. It also enables users to personalize iPhone firmwares with customized boot and recovery logos without having to use iTunes as there are no custom IPSW files involved. If other jailbreaking tools such as blackra1n, PwnageTool and sn0wbreeze didn’t work for you, you can always give redsn0w a try to see if it solves all your problems.

The iPhone Dev-Team has finally released a proper working patch which fixes carrier name or logo on unlocked iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. If you jailbreaked your iPhone with PwnageTool 3.1.4 and then later unlocked it with ultrasn0w, then you must have noticed that the carrier name or logo on the top left side of the status bar was missing. This was caused due to a known bug in ultrasn0w and was purely cosmetic, which means that your phone continued to work even without the carrier logo in place. We earlier wrote about a fix for this bug but it was more of a workaround than a proper fix. But today, Dev-Team has released ultrasn0w 0.92 which fixes this issue. Follow the steps below to upgrade your phone to the latest version of ultrasn0w.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to jailbreak your iPhone with firmware 3.1.2.
