The Call of Duty franchise has been running strong for the past few years, and although some gamers have expressed angst at the continual re-hash of a theme that doesn't appear to change much year-in, year-out, the sales figures suggest that Activsion's flagship first-person shooter is still immensely popular to this day. As we progress deeper into the mobile age we are seeing large game publishers invest more time and resources into exploring the mobile landscape, an exploration which has seen the likes of Activision bringing Call of Duty: Strike Team to Apple's iOS platform. The initial version of the first-person and third-person game landed on iOS in September of this year and has just benefited from an update that offers in-depth support for new iOS 7 features.
It's hard to believe that it's been a year since the previous installment of Call of Duty was thrusted into our lives. For the sake of wiping away any worry that you may have, we are happy to report that Activision hasn’t just been sitting on the profits from previous iterations of the title, but instead have been hard at work alongside Infinity Ward to produce the latest in the series. Incase you managed to miss the announcement, Call of Duty: Ghosts officially became available today and has been released alongside a companion mobile app that is available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8 devices.
We're now at the eve of what will more than likely be the second-biggest gaming release of this calendar year, and with Call of Duty: Ghosts almost at retail, Activision has released a live-action trailer featuring the lovely Megan Fox. It may have been available on iOS for a month already, but those toting Android devices can now also join in the fun that is provided by Call of Duty: Strike Team.
We're now just a matter of a month away from seeing Call of Duty: Ghosts' big release, and in the build-up to the very significant date in the gaming calendar, publisher Activision dropped Call of Duty: Strike Team last month for those on iOS. Today, the title has been given a healthy update, bringing support for the all-new iPhone 5s as well as unlocking Survival Mode maps for all players. The teaser site for the next in the series of Call of Duty has gone live, presenting a dark background with a pixelated but still visible image of a ghost's mask. The new landing page, which can be found over at callofduty.com, signifies that an announcement of the forthcoming title is nigh, and with leaks indicating Ghosts as being a central theme to the next Call of Duty release, it doesn't appear as though avid fans of the series will have to wait too much longer to learn of specifics.
