Checkm8 bootrom jailbreak exploit has been announced which makes iPhone X to iPhone 4S pwned for life. Here are the details.
Just a little heads up to inform you all that the iPhone Phonebook SIM card hacktivation trick has been completely blocked by Apple. The iPhone developer and hacker Sherif Hashim who first found this trick back in July has confirmed this on his Twitter account.
The iPhone hacker (pod2g of Chronic Dev Team) who previously found the 24kpwn exploit has successfully managed to find another bootrom based exploit which can jailbreak all iOS based devices on the latest iOS 4.1 firmware. What this means is that the next jailbreak most probably is going to be based on bootrom exploit which unlike JailbreakMe will enable users to change boot and recovery mode logos among many other things.
Sn0wbreeze 1.7 for 4.0 (for Windows) has been released. This release supports iPhone 3GS (old and new bootrom), iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G (MC and non-MC models), and iPod touch 3G. Though iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPod touch 2G (MC models) and iPod touch 3G will have to be either on 3.1.2 firmware, or will need to have their SHSH blobs saved for iOS 3.1.2 in order to successfully jailbreak these devices on iOS 4. Also the jailbreak for iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPod touch 2G (MC models) and iPod touch 3G on iOS 4 will be tethered, which means whenever you turn off your phone, you will need to re-connect it to a computer to be able to turn it back on.
iH8sn0w – the developer behind popular iPhone jailbreak tools such as sn0wbreeze for iPhone 3.1.3 / 4.0, f0recast and BlackBreeze has just written a detailed tutorial on how to jailbreak iPhone 3GS (with new bootrom) on iOS 4. But as I mentioned earlier, there is a little catch to it. 1) it is a tethered jailbreak (whenever you turn off your phone, you will need to re-connect it to a computer to be able to turn it back on) and 2) it will only work for those devices which have their SHSH blobs (ECID SHSH) files for 3.1.2 (NOT 3.1.3) saved on Cydia.
There is a new video going around in the wild which shows iPhone 3GS (with new bootrom) on iOS 4 jaibroken using an upcoming version of Sn0wbreeze. This video has been confirmed by iH8sn0w - the developer behind popular iPhone jailbreak tools such as sn0wbreeze for iPhone 3.1.3 / 4.0, f0recast and BlackBreeze as legit.
