Remember when we informed you last time about Android port which was in works for HTC HD2? Well guess what? Just like the Android port for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G, it is now a reality on HD2 too, with Android 2.1 dual booting side by side with Ubuntu Linux “'Karmic Koala”, and Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC Sense. A video has popped up which shows Nexus One running the upcoming Android 2.2 Froyo update. It is difficult to say whether or not this is really the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update running on the Nexus One, but one thing which we are sure of is that it look different, as also apparent from the screenshot below. In a day full of leaks, details have emerged about a new Android 2.1 powered phone by Dell. Dubbed as “Thunder”, the phone features similar specs to that of its Windows Phone 7 counterpart which is known as Dell Lightning.
Great news for Android users! If you have been waiting for an update to Android 2.1, well your prayers have been half-answered. There’s now a huge possibility that a major OTA update is coming soon. A new Android 2.1 update for Nexus One has been leaked. Compared to the last leaked build ERE36B, kernel and radio remains same, while there are some new changes in system/framework/*, system/app/*.apk and otacerts.zip. The kernel version for this ROM is 2.6.29-01117-g4bc62c2 android-build@apa26 #1 while baseband version is 32.26.00.24U_4.04.00.03_2.
Market Enabler app for rooted Android phones enables access on the US Android Market with paid apps outside United States. Paid apps in Android Market are currently limited to selected countries like US. If you happen to be outside US, you are left out by Google which at the time only allows users from US and UK to access the paid app store.
Folks over at Modaco forums are working on porting the new HTC Sense experience from the newly released HTC Desire over to the Google-branded Nexus One phone. For those of you who don't know, HTC Desire was unveiled yesterday by HTC at the Mobile World Congress 2010. Specs wise, this phone is exactly as powerful as the Google phone with 1Ghz processor, 512MB RAM, 3.7’’ AMOLED display and so on. Since it is a HTC branded phone, it comes with a unique HTC Sense experience with exclusive HTC-designed widgets.
Inspired by the overclocking capabilities of the Motorola Droid, folks at XDA-Developers have managed to overclock the most powerful Android phone available today – the Google Nexus One to 1.113Ghz. It is said to be running faster and is stable at this speed. It will be interesting to see how long can these XDA devs push to see the real potential and capabilities of this Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chip.
