Another Apple media event has been and gone, this time bringing multiple product announcements as well as the obligatory update on how existing devices like the iPhone, Mac and iPad are faring in the marketplace. Although, most of the attention will rightly be paid to the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display and the release of not one, but two new iPads, we mustn't forget that a number of important accessories were also mentioned during the keynote, albeit extremely fleetingly.
The accessories market for Apple's iOS devices is amongst, if not the biggest accessories market for mobile devices. Speakers, charging docks or cases etc. for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad is a multi-million dollar market! Today we came across a brand new LifeProof case for the iPad which we will be discussing right after the break.
Although Amazon's Kindle is widely regarded as the number one e-reading device, the iPad is a decent, albeit expensive alternative, and the Cupertino company's iPhone packs a Retina display making reading books and journals a relative doddle.
Regardless of whether you love or hate Apple, admire or resent them, or in just plain terms; plain don't care about the company, no-one can deny that they consistently churn out beautiful products. The design ethos isn't all about the product itself though, if you ever take the time to review the packaging that your new iPhone, Apple TV or iPod Shuffle comes in, you'll notice that it is just 'right'. I've lost count of the amount of times I have purchased a product from a different manufacturer only for it to be delivered in a mammoth box which is stuffed with protective bubble wrap, then to find that the product inside is swamped by free and unused space.
The way smartphone and tablet gaming has bullishly pushed aside competition from standalone devices in recent years has been nothing short of remarkable.
The philosophical question which has plagued us all at one point - where does space begin? Don't try and hide it, that is the question that you have all been asking yourself today. Well, this happens to be your lucky day so prepare to be enlightened.
USB Fever, a site dedicated to selling various other USB-centric gear, has just released a cable which enables you to import photos from your iPod or iPhone directly to your iPad.
