T-Mobile iPhone 5 Now On Sale, First TV Ad Feels A Lot Like Apple’s Own [VIDEO]

Tmobile iPhone 5

In a move that is no doubt more than mere coincidence, T-Mobile's new iPhone 5 ad may as well be from Apple themselves. If you've ever seen an Apple ad - and who hasn't at this point? - then you'll feel instantly at home with T-Mobile's take. There's the familiar white background, and the iPhone itself is the only item in the entire clip, bar a pedestal and some glass. It's minimalist in the extreme and is even sans T-Mobile's usual covergirl, Carly Foulkes. There's a voiceover, though, so it's not entirely sterile.

T-Mobile has had to wait a long time to get its hands on the iPhone, with many variations coming and going before the purple carrier was able to strike a deal that sees the iPhone 5 available for $99 on contract. T-Mobile claims to be trying to unbundle the mobile telephony business in the United States by making handset subsidies more transparent, allowing customers to upgrade earlier and potentially spend less. Time will tell whether that pulls customers in, especially now the hottest handset on the market is available to them.

Despite the euphoria of T-Mobile iPhone 5 going on sale today, there's no avoiding the fact that the carrier is extremely late to the party at this point. Apple is widely expected to release a new model within six months, so unless people really want to be on T-Mobile, the chances are they've already plumped for an iPhone 5 by now and are already planning the upgrade to whatever Apple calls its next iPhone. Perhaps T-Mobile will not see the real fruits of its labor until that release date rolls around.

If you've been waiting for this day to come though, happy iPhone day to you!

It’s been six years in the making, but today finally sees an Apple iPhone released on one of North America’s most liked, if not most used, carriers. T-Mobile, as of right now, carries the iPhone.

In order to make sure as many people as possible are fully aware of that fact, T-Mobile has released its first ever iPhone ad, aimed at making sure the people of the United States are in no doubt that there’s a new player in iPhone town, and it’s purple!

The ad, weighing in at a very prompt thirty seconds, has a distinctly familiar look and feel to it. In fact, if it wasn’t for that T-Mobile logo and slogan, we may even think the ad was from someone else.
