Surface Pro 5 Specs And Potential Release Date Revealed?

Any fan of Microsoft’s Surface series of tablets will be pleased to learn that it looks as though the platform will continue to get even better as it matures. The Surface range of tablets has continued to grow in stature over the last few years, picking up more fans along the way as Microsoft continues to release generational versions of the hardware.

Now, a new report is suggesting that Microsoft is looking to improve the line once again by introducing the Surface Pro 5 as a laptop-tablet hybrid with an impressive and extremely powerful hardware specification.

appears that the Surface Pro 5 will dramatically improve the display technology over the existing Surface Pro 4. If true, that would see the next-generation Surface Pro ship with a stunning 4K display that instantly outperforms and outshines the 2736-by-1824 pixel resolution that the latest Surface Pro enjoys. The report does suggest that the 4K model will potentially come with an additional price premium attached to it, leading us to believe that the display will be optional.

Internally speaking, the new Surface Pro 5 is likely to take advantage of Intel’s recently announced Kaby Lake series of processors to bring improved performance and raw processing power. That will be complimented by 16GB of RAM – which has always been a customizable option for Surface Pro 4 owners who opted for the higher-end model of the machine – as well as USB Type-C as a new connectivity option. Additionally, anyone looking to purchase the Surface Pro 5 can expect all round improvements from a performance perspective, as well as an improved Surface Pen that will include hardware improvements for better interaction with the tablet.

Integration of Intel’s 7th-generation Core chip could give us a little insight on when Microsoft expects to announce and introduce the new Surface Pro 5. Intel has already been on record as stating that the Kaby Lake series will be introduced later this year, meaning that we could potentially see a Microsoft reveal before the close of 2016, with potentially being the operative word in this case.

However the same sources that brought us this information are also suggesting that Microsoft could continue to work on and develop the Surface Pro 5 as part of internal plans to introduce the device in the spring of 2017.
