If your iPhone is stuck on Apple Intelligence Preparing issue after updating it to iOS 18.1, here’s what you need to know about the fix to this problem.
As you may already know by now, with iOS 18.1, Apple brings Apple Intelligence to iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
If you have a compatible device, even after updating to iOS 18.1, you will not immediately get Apple Intelligence as there is a waitlist for it. So if you see “Preparing” after enabling and joining the waitlist for Apple Intelligence, keep in mind that it’s normal and you can’t do anything about it other than to just wait it out.
With masses adopting iOS 18.1 on public release day, it’s expected that you will be stuck on “preparing” for a while until Apple resolves the demand problem from the backend servers.
One way to get Apple Intelligence almost immediately is today by updating to iOS 18.1 RC now and enabling Apple Intelligence. Right now, the wait time for “preparing” is almost none so updating to it right now will give you access to it almost immediately ahead of public release on October 28.
You can update to iOS 18.1 RC now is by either signing up for Apple Developer Program portal, or by Apple Beta Software Update program portal, and then grabbing the OTA update from Settings > General > Software Update section of the device.
