Time sure flies by fast! It seems like only yesterday we heard news of Steve Jobs passing away on October 5th (two weeks ago). Today, Apple has posted emailed tributes to Steve Jobs from people from all over the globe on their official website which is what we’ll be talking about in this post.
The news comes from Ars Technica – a blog dedicated to covering the latest developments in the fields of science and technology – in a post in which they discuss about Apple posting online tributes to its website.
The confirmation of Steve Jobs’ death came in the form of an email CEO Tim Cook sent out to Apple employees on October 5th which was posted publicly. In that email, Cook stated that folks who would like to share their thoughts, memories and condolences could send an email to rememberingsteve@apple.com. Apparently, over one million people sent in emails and some of them have been posted up on Apple’s official website here.
Ars Technica’s reporter cites anonymous sources who claim that Apple Stores across the USA will be closed for three hours today so that employees can remotely watch proceedings of a Steve Jobs memorial being held in the company’s headquarters at One Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California:
Meanwhile, rumors have solidified about Apple closing some retail stores on Wednesday in order to allow retail employees to remotely take part in the company’s memorial for Jobs. We have now heard from our own sources that this is indeed the case—at least for the larger stores—and that the shut-down will take place for approximately three hours. We have heard rumblings that there may be a live stream of some sort from Cupertino to the retail stores, but this remains unconfirmed.
Apple Stores are expected to be closed from 9AM to 12PM PDT for the memorial (which may be live streamed to the retail stores). If you are planning to go to an Apple Store today, you should definitely confirm whether the store will be open or not before heading out to avoid any inconvenience.
