Bored of existing games on your iPhone or iPad? Want to try something new? You can’t go wrong with Space Marshals for iOS which is a tactical top-down shooter that usually retails for $4.99, but can be yours for absolutely free thanks to Apple’s Free App of the Week initiative.
Space Marshals is definitely a title worth grabbing if you’re a fan of gaming on iPhones or iPads. The game builds on episodic storylines which gives the title more oomph as you make your way around the maps the character has to navigate through. Choose to engage in a shootout, or make your way across the maps in a hush stealthy mode without firing a shot.
The world/environment in the game is built to perfection and it really pops-out thanks to the gorgeous graphics which have been optimized for Apple’s Metal. A lot of attention has been placed on detailing the maps, and as such pave way for an environment that packs covers and paths that you can choose to flank the enemies with, thus the use of the word ‘tactical’ for description purposes.
You can even distract enemies to single them out and pick them off one by one. Cold!
Use the environment to your advantage. Avoid attacks by taking cover. Flank enemies for extra efficiency, but avoid getting flanked yourself! Use the tools of the trade to gain an edge – frag grenades, flash bangs, distractions, personal shields, proximity mines and more.
There’s also an array of weaponry to choose from in Space Marshals, with each load out ultimately impacting the types of tactics you employ to complete a level.
In addition to body armor and grenades you can carry one two-handed and one single-handed weapon in each mission – and there’s something for everyone. Shotguns, handguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, crossbows, energy weapons, throwing axes and more.
The controls are intuitive and pretty easy to get used to, and there is also the support for Apple’s MFi game controllers.
