Apple is set to announce its new iPhones next week and the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will do away with the notch, replacing it with a new arrangement that will feature two holes.
Earlier we heard rumors that the pill + hole cutouts will actually morph into a larger pill cutout when the phone is turned on. That said, a newer report claims that we should expect the space in that larger cutout to be used for displaying warning indicators.
Citing a source from its forums, MacRumors says that the space between the two holes where the notch would normally be will be turned into a space for indicators. The two indicators are likely to display when the camera is active, as well as when the microphone is turned on.
The dots will appear in the space between the two cutouts that Apple is using for Face ID hardware, and the overall look will be much like the green indicator light that is displayed on the Mac when the webcam is activated. Apple uses a bright green indicator light for Macs and it sounds like the indicator lights on the iPhone 14 Pro models will be at a similar brightness.
The indicators are currently displayed beside the notch on iPhone 13 models, and that’s what is likely to happen on the notch-laden iPhone 14 models, too.
But those buying an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max look set to benefit form a new look, assuming this report is correct.
