Southwest Airlines App For iPhone Finally Adds Passbook Support [Download Link]

If you’re a frequent Southwest Airlines flier then it’s going to be a good day for you because the app has received a new update that finally adds Passbook support. Late to the game, Southwest’s Passbook support comes after its competitors did the same quite some time ago.

The update, live now in the App Store, adds a new button that allows users to push their boarding pass to Passbook by tapping ‘View Boarding Pass’ under ‘Boarding Pass Options.’

There isn’t a huge new here other than the Passbook addition, but the app’s changelog suggests that a host of bug fixes have are also part of the update – and we all like a good bug fix now, don’t we?

Already plenty useful, the Southwest Airlines app currently lets fliers check in, book or change their reservations as well as completely cancel them should the need arise. Going one step further, customers also have the option of booking and then cancelling hire cars at their destination too. That’s something that can be a real bonus when you’re planning a trip, so we suspect that is a very welcome feature for those that fly Southwest Airlines.

Customers can also already manage their rewards accounts, access airport information and add EarlyBird Check-in to one of their existing reservations.

While not something many people will use day in, day out, something like a good airline application can be the difference between an excellent flying experience and a nightmare. Kudos to any airline that puts together an app that does a little more than showing a boarding pass.

The Southwest Airlines app is free and the updated version is live in the App Store, ready to download, as of now.
